Wiley College put up seven shots.
AUSTIN, Texas – For the second-straight game, the Wiley College men's soccer team's shots couldn't find the back of the net in a 2-0 Red River Athletic Conference loss to Huston-Tillotson University Saturday.
The Wildcats (6-4, 2-2 in RRAC) were shutout in consecutive games for the first time since September 10 and 12, 2016. It is Wiley College's first losing streak since October 1 and 6, 2016. The loss also snapped the Wildcats' four-game winning streak against the Rams.
Wiley College only put up seven shots with none being a threat to Huston-Tillotson. Abraham De La Mora (JR/El Paso, Texas) led the team with three shots. The Wildcats were awarded the only corner shot.
"We had no offense," head coach Demetrio Hernandez said.
Erik Reyes (SR/Fort Worth, TX) did all he could to give Wiley College a chance to take the lead. He stopped five shots and kept the game scoreless until the 83rd minute. He allowed goals in the 83rd and 86th minute to fall to 4-3. The Wildcats were out-shot nine to seven.
Wiley College returns home Thursday to face the defending Red River Athletic Conference tournament champion Louisiana State University-Alexandria – which is receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 poll. On October 14 the Wildcats face Louisiana State University-Shreveport for the first time since 2012.
