The Lady Wildcats won the 4 x 400-meter and 4 x 800-meter relays.
LAKE CHARLES, LA – The Wiley College women's track and field team won two relays and finished second in the two others at the McNeese Cowboy Relays Saturday.
The Lady Wildcats won the 4 x 400-meter relay in 3:47.28 – which was eight seconds faster than last week's time. Wiley College won the 4 x 800-meter relay in 9:36.47. The Lady Wildcats 4 x 100-meter relay team surpassed the NAIA 'A' Qualifying standard for the NAIA Championship with a time of 46.83 – which was second. Wiley College finished second in the 1,600-meter sprint-medley relay (4:07.29).
"I feel great about our relay teams," head coach Marlon Baugh said. "I think we can win at nationals and maybe break some records."
In individual events, Taishia Pryce (FR/Jamaica), who is the reigning Red River Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week, finished second in the long jump (5.60 meters), third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:03.55) and sixth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.39). Terrisa Mark (SR/Princess Town, Trinidad) (12 and Kenisha Arthur (SR/Chaguanas, Trinidad) finished 12th (12.51) and 20th (12.61), respectively in the 100-meter dash. Shamona Hunt (SO/St. Catherine, Jamaica) finished 12th in the 1,500-meter run (5:20.07).
The Lady Wildcats will compete in the Texas Southern Relays Friday and Saturday in Houston, Texas.
