The Wildcats ran their fastest times in the 4 x 400-meter and 4 x 800-meter relays in program history dating back to 2008.
LAKE CHARLES, LA – The Wiley College men's track and field team ran NAIA Championship qualifying times in two relays Saturday at the McNeese Cowboy Relays.
The Wildcats surpassed the NAIA 'B' Qualifying standard for the national championship in the 4 x 800-meter relay with their time of 7:47.24 – which is the fastest time by Wiley College since 2008. The Wildcats topped the 'A' qualifying standard with a time of 3:12.19 in the 4 x 400-meter relay – which is Wiley College's best time since 2008. Wiley College finished sixth in the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay with a time of 3:34.83.
Individually, Quinn-Lee Ralph (SR/Trinidad &Tobago) finished fifth in the 100-meter dash (10.69). Oraine Palmer (SO/Kingston, Jamaica) finished sixth (10.71) and Moriba Morain (JR/Pleasance Park, Trinidad ), the defending NAIA champion, finished eighth (10.75). Laban Kandie (FR/Kenya) finished sixth in the 3,000-meter run (9:11.81). Kendell Perouza (SR/Barataria, Trinidad) finished 13th in the 400-meter hurdles (59.27).
Wiley College will compete in the Texas Southern Relays Friday and Saturday in Houston, Texas.
