The Lady Wildcats have best 4 x 400-meter relay time
Lady Wildcats ranked No. 4 in USTFCCCA poll
After winning their third-straight conference championship, the Lady Wildcats move to No. 4 in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll.
The Lady Wildcats recorded 276.49 points and were ranked No. 2 three weeks ago. They lead the NAIA in the 4 x 400-meter relay at 3:43.71 which is three seconds better than Southern University-New Orleans time of 3:46.90. Wiley College also ranks in the top five in the 200-meter dash (Natasha Poleon (JR/Vieux Fort, St. Lucia), third, 24.0), 400-meter dash (Poleon, third, 54.37), 100-meter hurdles (Renae Dennie (SO/Harbour View, Jamaica), second, 14.16), 400-meter hurdles (Taishia Pryce (FR/Jamaica), fifth, 1:04.98), 4 x 100-meter relay (fifth, 46.83) and long jump (Pryce, second, 6.09 meters). The Lady Wildcats are qualified for 10 events at the NAIA Championship.
Wiley College won its third straight Red River Athletic Conference championship last weekend with 236 points. It won titles in the long jump (Pryce, 6.04 meters), high jump (Leslie Bethea (JR/Houston, Texas) 1.53 meters), triple jump (Ebony Carr (JR/Houston, Texas), 11.42 meters), 4 x 800-meter relay (9:49.06), 100-meter dash (Poleon, 12.03), 200-meter dash (Poleon, 24.14), 400-meter dash (Poleon 55.30), 800-meter run (Shamona Hunt (SO/St. Catherine, Jamaica) 2:24.38), 4 x 100-meter relay (47.06) and 4 x 400-meter relay (3:59.10).
The Lady Wildcats will compete in the Bobcat Classic Friday and Saturday at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.
