No. 3 Wildcats send seven athletes, 4 x 400-meter relay to finals

GULF SHORES, Alabama – The No. 3 Wiley College men's track and field team will be well represented in Saturday's 66th Annual Men's NAIA Championship finals – as seven athletes and the 4 x 400-meter relay team qualified.

Moriba Morain (JR/Pleasance Park, Trinidad ) – who is the defending 100-meter dash champion – ran the fastest time in the trial at 10.19. It was also his fastest time this season. Oraine Palmer (SO/Kingston, Jamaica) won his heat with a time of 10.43. Quinn-Lee Ralph (SR/Trinidad &Tobago) advanced with a time of 10.34. All three athletes will run at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Marbeq Edgar (JR/Choiseul, St. Lucia) – the defending NAIA 800-meter run champion won his heat with a time of 1:50.98. Shevan Parks (FR/Jamaica) also qualified for the final with his time of 1:52.65. They will run at 5 p.m. Saturday for the championship.

Kimorie Shearman (FR/St. Vincent) ran the fastest 400-meter dash trial time at 47.10. Rajay Hamilton (JR/Jamaica) ran 47.45 to also advance to the 400-meter dash final. Both athletes will run in the final at 4:40 p.m. Saturday. The 4 x 400-meter relay team of Hamilton, Ralph, Parks and Shearman ran 3:10.78 – which was the best trial time. The Wildcats will compete for the title at 6:25 p.m.

Jesse Berkley (JR/Siparia, Trinidad) and Machael Mark (SR/Princess Town, Trinidad) ran the 100-meter dash for the final time this season. Berkley ran 10.76 and Mark ran 10.86. Mark competed in the long jump and jumped 6.22. He withdrew from the event after his first jump.

Overall, the Wildcats have 10 entries in Saturday's finals. Morain will look to defend his 100-meter dash title at 4 p.m. with Ralph and Palmer running with him. Shearman and Hamilton will run in the 400-meter dash final at 4:40 p.m. Edgar will go for a repeat of his 800-meter run title at 5 p.m. with Parks also running. Morain, Ralph and Shearman will run in the 200-meter dash final at 5:20 p.m. The Wildcats will run in the 4 x 400-meter relay final at 6:25 p.m.
