Goldsby captures Week 8 Runner of the Week after HBCUAC Individual Title Win

Wiley University men's cross country athlete Javoun Goldsby adds another honor to his monumental  2024 season with the Week 8 Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Runner of the Week award, after claiming the 2024 HBCUAC Individual Cross Country Championship Title on Friday.

Goldsby ran a personal best 29:09.70 to edge Tougaloo College's JaDarrius Nelson by 0.6 seconds in the eight-kilometer course at the Oakville Indian Mounds Education Center in Danville, Ala. He beat his previous time by five seconds, which he achieved at the 2023 championship when he was edged out by 0.1 seconds for the individual title. With the title, Goldsby earns All-Conference for the third consecutive season. He was selected as the Preseason HBCUAC Runner of the Year and lived up to the billing, winning six of the eight Runner of the Week awards.

His individual conference championship title is the fourth in Wiley program history. Goldsby is one of four individuals from the HBCUAC that will qualify for the 2024 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Men's Cross Country National Championship at Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Mo. on November 22.
