Twenty-four student-athletes earn Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar
MARSHALL, Texas — Wiley University athletics saw 24 student-athletes recognized as Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars, celebrating their outstanding achievements in academics, athletics, and community service.
To earn the prestigious national honor, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher, be in at least their second season of competition, and demonstrate active involvement on campus and in their local communities.
Leading the honorees for Wiley University were Jean-Marie Farinha and Coren Lewis, both earning the distinction for the third consecutive year.
Farinha, a four-year athlete in Women's Cross Country and Track and Field, continues to build a remarkable legacy. In addition to her three Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar selections, she was named the 2025 Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Women's Track and Field Elite 9 Winner and holds multiple NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete awards.
Lewis, a four-year relief pitcher for the baseball team, also achieved his third Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar honor while earning his third NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete award.

About the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Awards
The Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Awards are annual honors recognizing undergraduate student-athletes who excel in Diverse: Issues in Higher Education, academics, and community service. Established in 1992, the program honors the legacy and educational values of tennis legend Arthur Ashe Jr.
