Baseball fall at Texas A&M-Texarkana
TEXARKANA, Texas - The Wiley University baseball team fell behind early and did not recover in a 15-3 loss against Texas A&M University-Texarkana Tuesday at George Dobson Field.
The Wildcats (3-13) fall to 1-6 on the road. They allowed runs in the first five innings, including seven in the first inning on four hits, three hit batters and two walks. Isaac Burciaga started and was only able to get two outs. Nick Rodriguez pitched 2 1/3 innings, Keyon Guillory threw 1 2/3 innings, Chance Guidry tossed a third of an inning and Manny Contreras got the last three outs. Wiley walked eight batters and only struck out two.
It got on the board in the fifth inning. Ivan Del Villar led off with a double and scored on a double by Abel Rodriguez. In the sixth inning, Ryan Ready led off with a single, advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a double by Jhan Carlos Javier. Allan Mendoza led off with a single and came around to score on Kai Woodard's ground ball to third.
The Wildcats will return home and open Gulf Coast Athletic Conference play against Dillard University with a three-game series starting on Saturday. The Bleu Devils are coming off a split against Madonna last weekend.
