Baseball unveils 2025 Schedule
The defending regular season conference champion Wiley University baseball team will play 49 games with 23 at home, as it announced its schedule on Thursday.
The Wildcats will play their home games at Coker Field on Fair Street for the first time since 2020. During the last three seasons, they played home games at Airport Park. The field has undergone renovations.
Fifteen of Wiley's 23 home games will be against Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) opponents. They open conference play against Philander Smith University on February 15 and 16. For the second straight season, Rust College visits the Wildcats on March 8 and 9. Last season, the Wildcats swept the three-game series and played them twice in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Championship. Wiley won the second meeting to advance to the championship. It will host Talladega College in a rematch of last season's conference championship on March 14 and 15. The schools also met in the Black College World Series. The Wildcats will also host Tougaloo College on April 12 and 13 and Southern University at New Orleans on April 19 and 20 for Senior Weekend.
Wiley will visit all three new additions to the conference: Stillman College (Feb 21-22), Voorhees University (March 21-22) and Wilberforce University (March 28-29). For the third straight season, the Wildcats will travel to Oakwood University (April 3-4). It will visit Dillard University to conclude the 2025 regular season on April 25 and 26.
Most of the Wildcats' non-conference schedule will be against Red River Athletic Conference schools, including the season-opening series at the University of Houston-Victoria on January 24 and 25. They will follow with three games at Texas College (Jan. 31 and Feb. 1). Wiley will play a home-and-home with Texas A&M University-Texarkana, hosting the Eagles on February 25 and visiting them on April 1. From February 28 to March 1, it will host a three-game series against Louisiana State University of Alexandria. The schools played one game in Alexandria last season. The Wildcats will visit Louisiana Christian University (March 11) and Jarvis Christian University (April 15).
Wiley will also play a home-and-home with Nelson University, formerly known as Southwestern Assemblies of God. It will visit the Lions on Feb. 4 and host them on Feb. 11. The Wildcats will host Arkansas Baptist College on February 7-8. They will visit Texas Wesleyan on February 18. Wiley will play three exhibition games against National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I schools. It visits Grambling State University on March 4 and April 8 and Texas Southern University on April 22.
The 2025 HBCUAC Baseball Championship will be April 30 until May 4. The location is to be announced. With the conference expanding to 11 schools, the regular season and tournament champion will advance to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Opening Round from May 12-15. The NAIA World Series is May 25-31 at Lewiston, Idaho.
The Wildcats return nearly all of their contributors from last season's team which went 29-21 and 18-3 in conference play. It finished runner-up in the GCAC Championship and earned a berth in the Black College World Series for the second consecutive season.
