Men's Basketball travels to Rust, Tougaloo

The Wiley University men's basketball team will finish their road trip with games at Rust College at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Tougaloo College at 5 p.m. Saturday.

The games will air on the Rust College and Tougaloo College channels on HBCU-Plus, which can be streamed online or downloaded on mobile devices or Smart TV. 

The Wildcats (11-10, 7-6 GCAC) seek to extend their three-game winning streak - which ties their longest of the season. They are a half-game behind Fisk University for fourth in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference standings. 

In their latest victory against the University of the Virgin Islands on February 1, Delor Johnson led the team with 22 points, marking his 14th game with 20 or more. Tayvion Fisher recorded his fifth straight double-digit scoring game at 13 points. Jalen Bates led the team with nine rebounds, five steals, four assists and two blocked shots.

Rust (8-11, 5-7 GCAC) is on a two-game winning streak after an 81-57 victory over Dillard University and a 67-60 win over Southern University at New Orleans. Catthadious Moore put up 18 points and seven rebounds against Dillard. Xavier Evans recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Against SUNO, Khalil Brown tallied a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Tougaloo (18-4, 10-2 GCAC) is in contention for its third-straight GCAC regular season title. It is a half-game behind Philander Smith University. It downed SUNO 89-67 and beat Dillard 81-74 for its sixth straight win. Antonio Patterson put up 19 points, five rebounds and four assists against Southern-New Orleans. He recorded a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds against Dillard. Keondre Montgomery posted 21 points and nine rebounds.

Wiley won 78-72 against Rust at home on January 4 for its third straight victory over the Bearcats. The Wildcats fell 68-50 against Tougaloo College on January 6 for its fourth straight loss against the Bulldogs.
