Men's Soccer takes on Georgia Gwinnett, Florida College

Match Notes

The Wiley University men's soccer team will head to Georgia for Continental Athletic Conference matches against Georgia Gwinnett College at 6 p.m. Thursday and Florida College at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Grizzly Soccer Complex.

Live statistics will be available for both matches. Live video will be available for Thursday's match. The links are listed in the men's soccer schedule on wileyathletics.com. This will be the furthest East Wiley has traveled for a contest.

The Wildcats (2-6-0, 1-0-0 CAC) hope to end a three-match losing streak in which it was outscored 18-1. Anthony Ulloa led the team with four shots in Friday's 3-0 loss at Arlington Baptist University. He shares the team lead in goals with Stephen Gaskin at three. Santos Perez made his second start as goalkeeper. Thursday's match will mark the third time, Wiley has played a school that was ranked or receiving votes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Top 25 poll.

Georgia Gwinnett (5-5-1, 0-0-0 CAC) is on a four-match losing streak and being outscored 16-4. Alejandro Contrera leads the Grizzlies with five goals, 42 shots and 22 shots on goal. Kevin Diaz follows with three goals and one assist. Six players have multiple goals. Dagoberto Romero has started 10 of 11 matches at net. He has stopped 25 of 41 shots and posted one shutout and contributed to another with teammate Gal Grodetski.

Florida College (3-4-1, 2-0 CAC) has won two of the last three, defeating CAC schools Florida National University and Spartanburg Methodist College. Nicholas Giesing and John Solis each have two goals. Yorgen Torres leads the team with eight shots. Solis has seven with five on goal. The Falcons have only scored 10 goals in eight matches. Filip Borka and Ahiezer Santiago have split time at goal with each making four starts. Borka has made saves on 30 of 36 shots and Santiago has stopped 20 of 30.

These matches will be crucial towards qualification for the 2024 Continental Athletic Conference Championship, November 9-13 at the Grizzly Soccer Complex. The top six teams will advance. Wiley is one of four schools with a conference victory. Florida College is the only school with multiple CAC wins.
