Men's Soccer battles Talladega with CAC Tournament spots on the line

The Wiley University men's soccer team concludes the 2024 regular season against Talladega College in a Continental Athletic Conference match at 3 p.m. Saturday at Liberty Park in Flowood, Miss.

The Wildcats (2-8, 1-2 CAC) haven't played since competing in the Continental Athletic Conference Classic at Georgia Gwinnett College's Grizzly Soccer Complex on October 3 and 5. They are looking to snap a five-match losing streak.

This is their fourth match against the Continental Athletic Conference. It beat Tougaloo College on September 8 and fell to Georgia Gwinnett and Florida College during the CAC Classic. Wiley hopes to qualify for the CAC Tournament, held November 9-13 at the Grizzly Soccer Complex.

Anthony Ulloa and Habimana Janvier scored their fourth and third goals in the contest against Georgia Gwinnett. Wiley has only scored three goals in the last five matches. Melvin Bonilla and Santos Perez have both seen time in the net. Perez made four saves against Florida College.

Talladega (4-4-2, 2-1 CAC) has won three of its last five matches and blanked its opponent in four matches. Tyrike Andrews scored two goals in the previous three contests. Tavar Lawrence netted his 16th goal against Georgia Gwinnett on October 5. Ivroy Smith has stopped 12 shots in his recent two outings.

Saturday will mark the second meeting between the Wildcats and Tornadoes. Wiley fell 10-0 in last season's match.
