Men's Soccer wraps 2024 Season

The Wiley University men's soccer team's 2024 season ended on Friday after it did not receive a bid to the Continental Athletic Conference Championship.

The Wildcats finished 3-8 in their second season since the program returned in 2023. They were denied a bid despite playing matches against the defending Red River Athletic Conference champion Louisiana Christian University, William Carey University - which was ranked No. 16, and Georgia Gwinnett College.

Anthony Ulloa led the team in scoring with seven goals. He won CAC Offensive Player of the Week twice. Habimana Janvier and Stephen Gaskin followed with three. Aaron Castillo scored twice and assisted on four. Christopher Haeger tallied two goals.

Melvin Bonilla started eight matches in goal, winning two contests and making 23 saves. Santos Perez appeared in four bouts with two starts. He stopped 13 of 21 shots. Daniel Rojas picked up a win and made 12 saves in two matches with one start.

Takumi Ota and Marcus Momolu wrap up their careers. Ota played in 23 matches in two seasons. He scored four goals and earned CAC Offensive Player of the Week last season. Momolu transferred from Southern Nazarene University and made six starts in nine matches.

Most of the team is expected to return. Head coach Andrew Benitez will look to add depth to the roster with quality freshmen and transfers to make a return to the postseason in 2025.
