Ulloa, Rojas, Nievas garner HBCUAC Weekly Honors
Wiley University central midfielder Anthony Ulloa claims Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Offensive Player of the Week. Daniel Rojas took home Defensive Player of the Week and Kevin Nievas earned Freshman of the Week. They were recognized for their performance between September 8 and 14.
Ulloa, the Preseason HBCUAC Offensive Player of the Year, scored his second goal of the season, which tied the match against Texas A&M University-Texarkana in the 51st minute on Saturday. It's the second time he's earned Offensive Player of the Week, previously capturing the award for August 25-31.
Rojas made his first start at goalkeeper on Saturday. He stopped four of five shots in 38 minutes, which kept the Wildcats in the game and helped them tie the match and extend their unbeaten streak to three matches.
Nievas took over in the 42nd minute and made a key stop in the second half. He leads the HBCUAC with a 1.12 goals against average and ranks second in save percentage (.714). This is his fourth weekly honor. He won Defensive
The Wildcats visit Louisiana State University of Alexandria on Wednesday and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics semifinalist William Carey University on Friday.
