Men's Track and Field competes at Jim Mize Invitational

RUSTON, La. - The Wiley University men's track and field team had several athletes post personal bests at the Jim Mize Invitational hosted by Louisiana Tech University Friday and Saturday.

Ronald Garrett, who qualified for the NAIA national championship in the 110-meter hurdles, matched his best time at 14.58, which was third out of 12 athletes, mostly from NCAA Division I schools. Jaylon Donson ran 1:58.10 in the 800-meter run, which was fifth out of 16 runners. Xavier Hutchinson threw a personal best of 49.60 meters in the javelin, which ranked fourth out of 10 competitors.

The Wildcats ran the 4 x 400-meter relay for the first time this season. The team of Tyvonne Allen, Justice Northern, Garrett and Ruben finished in 3:21.22. The team of Donson, Isaac Jenkins, Camron Gibson and Harold Overton ran in 3:27.70. Dantravian Sloan ran a personal best in the 110-meter hurdles (15.46). Brian Fisher topped his previous time in the 400-meter hurdles (59.18). Javoun Goldsby ran a personal best in the 5,000-meter run (17:36.26). Micah Ruben ran his best time in the 200-meter dash (22.84). Branden Kelly threw a season-best 24.25 meters in the javelin.

Wiley will compete in the Prairie View A&M University Relays on Friday and Saturday.
