Jenkins wins GCAC Field Athlete of the Week
After nearly qualifying for the 2024 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Men's Outdoor Track and Field National Championship, Isaac Jenkins wins Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week.
On Thursday at the Texas State University Bobcat Invitational, Jenkins leaped 7.13 meters in the long jump, which was 0.02 meters shy of the 'B' qualifying standard. He competed against athletes mostly from National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I schools and placed ninth out of 29 jumpers. He also competed in the high jump and lept over 1.86 meters, which set a new personal best.
Jenkins is the third Field Athlete of the Week and fourth overall weekly GCAC award winner. Xavier Hutchinson won last week. Micah Ruben won the award for March 4-10. Ronald Garrett Jr. won Track Athlete of the Week for March 4-10.
The Wildcats will next compete at Northwestern State University's Leon Johnson Invitational on April 12 and 13.
