Men's Track and Field deliver strong performances at McNeese

LAKE CHARLES, La. — Ronald Garrett Jr. captured a victory in the 55-meter hurdles to lead the Wiley University men's indoor track and field team Friday at the McNeese Indoor Invitational.

Competing primarily against NCAA competition, the Wildcats secured several top-three finishes at the Ralph O. Ward Recreation Complex.

Garrett headlined the performance, clocking a winning time of 7.92 seconds in the 55-meter hurdles. The standout also found success in the sprints, finishing as the runner-up in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.85 seconds.

In the 55-meter dash, Garrett placed third at 6.70 seconds—just 0.05 seconds shy of the "B" national championship qualifying standard for the 60-meter dash. His hurdles time was within 0.47 seconds of the "B" standard for the 60-meter hurdles.

Teammate Kemarrius Mayes edged Garrett in the 55-meter dash, taking third place with a time of 6.69 seconds.

The Wildcats also saw a strong showing in the middle-distance and relay events. Jaden Cole earned a third-place finish in the 600-meter run, crossing the line in 1:25.30. Cole later joined Austin Songa, Jaylon Donson, and Garrett in the 4x400-meter relay, where the quartet placed third with a time of 3:29.30.

Wiley University returns to action Saturday at the FasTrak Collegiate Challenge, hosted by the University of Houston.
