Men's Cross Country heads to first GCAC Championship
The Wiley College men's cross country team will travel to Decatur, Ala., to run for its first Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Championship at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Oakville Indian Mounds Education Center.
The race will be eight kilometers, which the Wildcats ran that distance for the first time at Southern Arkansas University's Lois Davis Invitational. Their previous meets were five kilometers or four miles. Wiley College will run against Dillard University, Philander Smith College, Rust College and Tougaloo College. The championship will be broadcast on HBCU LeaguePass Plus on Monday.
Joseph Levier III paced the Wildcats at the Lois Davis Invitational with a time of 31:40.7. He also ran Wiley College's top time at McNeese State University's Cowboy Stampede on September 24. Michael Lewis led the Wildcats in their first two meets at Ouachita Baptist University's Bob Gravett Invitational on September 3 and Harding University's Steve Guymon Invitational on September 16.
The team champion and individuals who finish in the top 10 will qualify for the 2022 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics National Championship.
