Men's Cross Country finishes as GCAC Runner-Up

DECATUR, Ala. – The Wiley College men's cross country team had two top 10 finishes and bested three schools to take second place at the 2022 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Championship Friday at the Oakville Indian Mounds Education Center.

Joseph Levier III finished fifth overall with a time of 31:22.3 in the eight-kilometer race. Javoun Goldsby followed with a personal best 31:48.5 to finish seventh out of 34 runners. Michael Lewis ran 32:29.7, Amearium Harper (33:34.7) and Channing Arvie (34:38.8) rounded out the Wildcats' top five.

The Wildcats finished with 44 points. Philander Smith College won the title as three of their five runners finished in the top five. Tougaloo College followed Wiley College with 52 points. Abel Fitwi won the individual title with a time of 29:19.4. The Bulldogs had three top 10 finishers. Fisk University and Rust College finished with 102 and 132 points, respectively.

"The men ran well," head coach LaMark Carter said. "We move on to track and look forward to improving in the conference."
