Goldsby claims Preseason Runner of the Year; Donson, Harper land on Preseason All-HBCUAC Team
The defending Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference champion, Javoun Goldsby, aims to defend his title, having been named the 2025 HBCUAC Preseason Runner of the Year. His teammates Jaylon Donson and Ameariun Harper earned Preseason All-HBCUAC, the conference announced on Tuesday.
The teams were determined by the results of the 2024 HBCUAC Championship. The top 10 returning runners earned spots on the team. Goldsby claimed the title with a personal best 29:09.7 in the eight-kilometer race. He claimed HBCUAC Runner of the Week in all six weeks Wiley competed. Goldsby is a three-time All-HBCUAC athlete. In October, he hopes to become the first Wildcat to win two conference titles.
Jaylon Donson earned All-HBCUAC for the second straight season. He was one place short of qualifying for the 2024 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics National Championship. Harper earned All-HBCUAC with a 10th-place finish. His time of 31:38 was a personal best.
The Wildcats finished runner-up for the third straight season at the 2024 HBCUAC Championship. They opened the season on Friday with the John MacKenzie Invitational hosted by Texas Christian University. The season continues on September 6 at the University of Texas at Tyler Season Opener.
