FT. WORTH, Texas – The Wiley University men's cross country team wrapped up its regular season with several strong individual showings at the Old Glory Gallop on Saturday at AP Ranch, setting the stage for their quest for a conference title next week.
Competing in the eight-kilometer course at AP Ranch and running against 40 schools and over 400 athletes, who were mostly from NCAA institutions, the Wildcats were led by freshman Earl Hurd Jr., who posted a personal best time of 29:12.40.
Dwight Bennett Jr. followed close behind, recording a time of 30:06.28, which beat his previous personal best by a significant 10 seconds. Looking Ahead to the Championship
The team now turns its attention to the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Cross Country Championship. The event is scheduled for Friday at the Oakville Indian Mounds Education Center in Decatur, Alabama. The Wildcats will be aiming for their first-ever HBCUAC title and their first conference championship since winning the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) in 2014.
