Softball travels to Voorhees

Wiley University softball will continue Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) play against Voorhees University on Saturday and Sunday at Bamberg-Erhardt High School in Bamberg, S.C.
 
Saturday's doubleheader starts at noon Central Time and Sunday's finale is at 10 a.m. The games will be live-streamed on the Urban Edge Network. The links are listed in the softball schedule on wileyathletics.com.
 
The Lady Wildcats (2-6, 2-4 HBCUAC) are looking to bounce back after falling in all three games against the defending HBCUAC champion Stillman College. The losses dropped them into a three-way tie for fifth. They gave up 38 runs with 24 earned on 39 hits, nine walks and hit seven.
 
T'era Garrett hit 5-for-8 batting in the leadoff spot. She scored a run and drove in one. Sariya Calhoun went 3-for-7 with a run and an RBI in the final two games of the series. Gwendolyn Johnson had four hits, three RBI, three stolen bases and two runs.
 
Voorhees (2-12, 2-4 HBCUAC) took two out of three against Rust College last week. Apryl Davis went 6-for-9 with two doubles and a home run. She scored four runs with seven RBI. Ta'Nia Hickson picked up two wins in the circle and struck out 13 batters. Eddrain Schenkel hits .323 with four runs and three RBI.
 
Both schools trail Dillard University by 1.5 games for fourth in the conference.
