Women's Basketball hosts Centenary College of Louisiana

The Wiley College women's basketball team will play its last home game until February when it hosts Centenary College of Louisiana at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Alumni Gymnasium.

The Lady Wildcats (6-2) last played on November 22 defeating Huston-Tillotson University 75-62. Diamond Hawthorne led all players with 26 points and 13 rebounds. Kayja Jackson added 13 points and two rebounds. Alaeh Pressley tallied 10 points and four rebounds.

Entering Tuesday's game, Wiley College leads the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics with 20 free throws made per game and 28 free throws attempted per game. It leads the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference with a 69.6 free throw percentage.

Kaitlyn Davis ranks fourth in the conference with 15.1 points and two 3-pointers made per game. Pressley is third in the conference with an 83.3 free throw percentage. Minnie Miller and Jay'lann Myles are tied for fifth in the conference with 2.6 offensive rebounds per game.

Centenary (0-8) is still searching for its first victory of the season. It played its closest game on Sunday falling 102-101 to Birmingham Southern. Amelia Bagwell scored 33 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. She was followed by Brailey Major, who put up 27.

The Lady Wildcats and Ladies played each other in Shreveport on November 17, with Wiley College prevailing 84-75. Myles recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. The Lady Wildcats dominated the boards, outrebounding Centenary 57-44. TaNyjah Plumber led the Ladies with 20 points.

Tuesday's game will be the 10th in the series – which dates back to 1981. Including its victory this season, Wiley College has won three.
