Women's Basketball begins road trip at Texas College
The Wiley University women's basketball team will tip off a two-game road swing on Friday when it visits Texas College at 5:30 p.m. Friday in Gus F. Taylor Gymnasium.
Coverage for the game is unknown as of press time. The Lady Wildcats are on a four-game winning streak after defeating Centenary College of Louisiana 69-35 on November 11. Everyone saw playing time and scored points. Jamiya Eaddy led all scorers with 13 points - despite not playing in the fourth quarter. She also shared the team lead with Diamond Hawthorne with seven rebounds.
The Lady Wildcats (5-1) defeated the Lady Steers 62-55 on November 7 at Alumni Gymnasium. They held Texas College to a 32.8 shooting percentage and outrebounded them 43-31. Hawthorne recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Entering this week, Wiley has several players ranking in the top 10 of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference. Eaddy ranks fifth with 15.3 points per game, eighth in 3-point field goal percentage (43.8) and 10th with a 44.9 field goal percentage. Hawthorne is tied for eighth in the conference with 7.5 rebounds per game. Kiersten Harris ranks fourth in the GCAC with 3.7 assists per game.
Texas College (2-2, 1-0 RRAC) won their Red River Athletic Conference opener 70-60 over Jarvis Christian University on Wednesday. Te'Aire Hambrick put up 20 points on 8-for-15 shooting. Keaundra Kelly recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. In the November 7 game, Hambrick scored 20 points hitting eight of 22 attempts. Kelly put up 10 points and six rebounds.
Wiley will continue their road trip on November 27 at Louisiana Christian University.
