Women's Basketball begins road trip at Dillard, SUNO

The Wiley University women's basketball team will continue Gulf Coast Athletic Conference play on the road when it visits Dillard University at 5:30 p.m. Friday and Southern University at New Orleans at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Friday's game will be broadcast on HBCU+ Channel 107. Saturday's game will be broadcast on Channel 113. Live statistics will be available for both games. The links can be found in the women's basketball schedule on wileyathletics.com.

The Lady Wildcats (6-3, 1-0 GCAC) opened conference play with a 41-40 victory over Talladega College. Jamiya Eaddy returned to the lineup after missing two games and led the team with 11 points. She also contributed three rebounds and two steals. Cailan Hale tallied 10 points and eight rebounds.

Dillard (1-4, 0-0 GCAC) is on a two-game losing streak. It played an exhibition game at Nicholls State on Tuesday. The Lady Bleu Devils are in their first season under the leadership of Roshaun Ambrose. Jordyn Rowe is the only player averaging double-figures with 12 per game. Cassidy Lowe leads the team with 7.2 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game. Slyvia Jones leads Dillard with three assists per game.

Southern-New Orleans (0-6, 0-1 GCAC) has been beaten by double-digits in all six games. It is in its second season since reinstating the program last season. Jordan Harris leads the team in scoring with 15 points per game. She also leads with 2.5 assists per game. McKenna Harris is averaging a double-double with 10.5 points and 11 rebounds per game. The Lady Knights hosted Philander Smith on Thursday.

Last season, the Lady Wildcats and Lady Bleu Devils split the regular season meetings. Wiley won 52-48 at Dillard on January 15 and fell 71-56 at Tougaloo College. The teams met in the GCAC Quarterfinals with the Lady Wildcats suffering a 58-53 defeat.

Wiley won both games against SUNO last season. It won 70-63 on the road and 93-51 at home. The Lady Wildcats have won the last five against the Lady Knights.
