Mandley adds Watkins, Peacock to Coaching Staff

Wiley University head women's basketball coach DeWitt Mandley is pleased to announce the hiring of Kailyn Watkins and Celebria Peacock as assistant coaches.

"Watkins comes from playing at an NCAA Division I Historically Black Colleges and Universities program and was a tenacious defender," Mandley said. "She has high energy and is a player's coach. Peacock played in our program and is familiar with the system. She is hungry to learn and has a work ethic like no other."

Watkins played at Alcorn State University and graduated in 2025 with her Bachelor's in psychology and her Master's in secondary education with an emphasis on clinical mental health counseling. She played in 107 games over four seasons, with 10 starts, recording 146 rebounds, 78 assists, and 70 steals. Watkins was a strong student in the classroom, earning the Braves Academic Award for the highest GPA. The Alcorn alumna is passionate about developing young athletes on and off the court.

"Wiley's strong sense of community and commitment to academic and athletic excellence align with my own values and experiences as a student athlete," Watkins said. "I saw this opportunity as a chance to give back, grow as a leader and help empower the next generation of women in sports."

Peacock was the starting point guard on last season's team that advanced to the HBCU Athletic Conference championship game. She averaged 8.9 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. Before Wiley, she played two seasons at Arkansas Baptist College and one at Hillsborough Community College. She is looking forward to continuing with the program.

"Last season was unbelievable," Peacock said. "I'm grateful to Coach Mandley for giving me this opportunity. I'm looking forward to learning more from him and helping this team win a championship."

Along with working with the varsity team, Watkins and Peacock will lead the junior varsity team.
