Women's Basketball overpowers Stillman College, advances to Semifinals

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Playing against the host school Stillman College in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Hope Credit Union Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Basketball Championship, the HBCUAC West Champion Wiley University women's basketball took the lead in the second quarter and put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter of a 70-56 victory.
 
The Lady Wildcats (16-7, 9-3) advance to the semifinals for the second straight season. It's the second straight time they've beaten Stillman on the road. The win moves them to 6-2 at Birthright Alumni Hall.
 
After finishing the first quarter tied at 14, Wiley took a six-point lead in the second quarter on two shots made by Jessica Nerestant and one by Dike. In the last two minutes of the quarter, Dike, Keimora Banks and Mia Thomas hit jumpers to give the Lady Wildcats a 32-22 halftime lead.
 
Stillman pulled within five in the third quarter. Buckets by Nerestant and Brandy Jones pushed the margin to nine. A turnover and missed shot led to two 3-pointers for the Lady Tigers, cutting Wiley's lead to one. Dike hit a jumper, Nerestant converted at the line. She set up a layup for Dike with a steal to increase Wiley's lead to seven. Wiley took a five-point lead into the fourth quarter.
 
Jones scored on a second-chance putback and Alexis Foster hit a 3-pointer to give Wiley an 11-point lead. Stillman didn't get closer than nine. Shots made by Dike, Foster and Kendall Campbell sealed the game.
 
Dike led all scorers with 18 points. She hit nine of 13 shots and added seven rebounds. Foster followed with 14 points and four rebounds. Jessica Nerestant recorded her seventh double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Jones provided 12 points, four rebounds and three steals.
 
The Lady Wildcats will face the winner between East No. 2 seed Talladega College and West No. 3 seed Philander Smith University in the semifinals at 2 p.m. Saturday.
