Hernandez, Allison win CAC Weekly Awards

After leading the Wiley University women's soccer team to an unbeaten week, Yajaira Hernandez won Continental Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week and Destiny Allison won Defensive Player of the Week for September 23-29, the conference announced on Monday.

Hernandez scored her fourth goal in the 64th minute of Wednesday's match against National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III school Centenary College of Louisiana, helping the Lady Wildcats to a tie. She tallied her fifth goal in Friday's 4-1 victory at Arlington Baptist University. Hernandez is tied for seventh in the CAC in goals scored.

Allison made six saves against Centenary with five in the first half. She stopped two of three shots against Arlington Baptist University, picking up her second victory. Allison is tied for the lead in the CAC with 53 saves. These are the second and third weekly awards the Lady Wildcats have won. Deyanara Hernandez won Offensive Player of the Week for September 2-8.

Wiley returns to the soccer pitch on October 24 when it competes in the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference Invitational in Jackson, Miss.
