SHREVEPORT, La. - Wiley University women's track and field athletes Meeyesha Tutt-Moutouo and Ariel Johnson won individual Gulf Coast Athletic Conference titles - leading the Lady Wildcats to a third-place finish at the 2024 GCAC Men's and Women's Track and Field Championship on Friday and Saturday at Lee Hedges Stadium.
The Lady Wildcats put up 72 points, twice as many as Philander Smith University, which finished fourth. Dillard University dominated for its third straight title with 270 points. Talladega College finished a distant second with 108 points. The meet was called in the middle of the women's 5,000-meter run after lightning struck a second time. The first time caused a two-hour delay after the 100-meter dash. The 4 x 400-meter relay was also not run.
Tutt-Moutouo, who is an NAIA National Championship qualifier, won the long jump on Friday with a distance of 5.15 meters - which was 0.11 meters further than second place. She also placed in the 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash, the 4 x 100-meter relay and the triple jump. Tutt-Moutouo cleared a height in the high jump but the event was unable to be completed.
