Mitchell earns All-GCAC Honorable Mention
BOSSIER CITY, La. – After leading the Wiley University volleyball team in kills as a freshman, Brayleigh Mitchell earned recognition as one of the top athletes in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference on Sunday as an All-GCAC Honorable Mention.
The All-GCAC awards were presented before the first match. The head volleyball coaches nominated and voted. Mitchell posted 153 kills with 108 during conference play. Her 2.59 kills per set ranks third in the GCAC. She had nine matches with double-digit kills, including seven straight from September 30 to October 20. Mitchell had a career-high 16 kills against Fisk University on October 14.
Her performance helped the Lady Wildcats win six matches in GCAC play. Wiley earned the sixth seed and will face the third seed Fisk at 2 p.m. on Monday. The match will be broadcast on HBCU+ Channel 02. The winner will play second seed Dillard University in the semifinals at 6 p.m.
