Men's Soccer kicks off HBCU Athletic Conference play against Paul Quinn College

Wiley University men's soccer opens Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference play against Paul Quinn College at 3 p.m. Saturday at Pemberton Field for its first conference opener in seven years.
 
The match will stream on the Urban Edge Network, which can be viewed online or downloaded to mobile devices via the app. Live statistics will also be available.
 
The Wildcats (3-3-1, 0-0-0 HBCUAC) last competed in a conference from 2011 to 2018 as a member of the Red River Athletic Conference. They played the previous two seasons in the Continental Athletic Conference, which consists of independent institutions that weren't required to play against each other.
 
Wiley hasn't played since defeating Arlington Baptist University 4-0 on September 26. Jayce Graves scored two goals and Anthony Ulloa and Habimana Janvier each scored one. Daniel Rojas recorded his first career shutout, making three saves. His performance earned him Defensive Player of the Week. Alvaro Guerrero, who contributed an assist, earned Freshman of the Week.
 
Ulloa leads the HBCUAC with 19 shots and ranks fourth with three goals. Guerrero is fourth with two assists. Aaron Castillo ranks fifth with 12 shots. Kevin Nievas is second in the conference with a 2.26 goals against average and ranks in the top five with 18 saves.
 
Paul Quinn (2-2-5) has split its matches and is coming off a 1-1 draw against Williams Baptist University. Frankie Oviedo and Amando Garcia share the conference lead in goals with four. Charlie Fisher leads the conference with five assists. Andrew Martinez leads the conference with 41 saves and ranks third with a 2.46 goals against average.
 
The Wildcats and Tigers meet for the third time and the first time since October 22, 2018. The schools split the two previous meetings with Wiley winning in 2017 and the Tigers in 2018.
