Men's Track and Field travels to Prairie View A&M Relays

The Wiley University men's track and field team will compete in the 2024 Prairie View A&M University Relays in Prairie View, Texas on Friday and Saturday at the PVAMU Track and Field Complex.

Friday's action will start at 9:30 a.m. with the field events. Running events start at 4 p.m. Saturday's first event will be the 4 x 100-meter relay at 2:10 p.m. and conclude with the 4 x 400-meter relay. The Wildcats will compete mostly against NCAA Division I athletes. 

Camron Gibson, Xavier Hutchinson and Branden Kelly will compete in the shot put. Christian Lacy, Isaac Jenkins and Micah Ruben will participate in the long jump. Hutchinson will attempt the triple jump, looking to improve on his season-best distance of 13.33 meters. Gibson and Kelly will throw in the discus. Jenkins will look to top his season-best height of 1.90 meters in the high jump. Hutchinson and Kelly will participate in the javelin throw. Last week, Hutchinson threw a personal best of 49.60 meters.

On the track, Tyvonne Allen, Justice Northern, Gibson and Jenkins will run in the 400-meter dash. Ruben will compete in the 100-meter dash. Allen, Northern and Gibson will also run in the 200-meter dash. Jaylon Donson and Javoun Goldsby will participate in the 800-meter run. Donson ran a personal best 1:58 at the Jim Mize Invitational last week. They will also run in the 1,500-meter run with teammates Jaden Cole and Ameariun Harper.

Ronald Garrett, who posted an NAIA national championship qualifying time in the 110-meter hurdles, will run in that event and try to qualify in the 400-meter hurdles. Dantravian Sloan and Brian Fisher are also running in the events.

Start lists haven't been posted for Saturday's events.
