Women's Basketball annihilates Texas College on Homecoming

Brandy Jones led all scorers with 25 points in her Wiley University debut and the Lady Wildcats hit 13 three-pointers in a 92-60 rout over Texas College during its 2025 Homecoming Game Saturday at Alumni Gymnasium.
 
The Lady Wildcats (1-0) open with a win for the third time in four seasons. They extend their home-winning streak to seven straight games. Jones hit seven shots with six from 3-point range. Three of her shots from long range came in the first quarter and allowed the Lady Wildcats to build a double-digit advantage.
 
Moriah Burley hit two 3-pointers in the second quarter that helped push the margin to over 20. Wiley led by as many as 34. Twelve of fourteen players scored. Kelechi Dike recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Burley provided nine points. Jessica Nerestant contributed eight points, nine rebounds, two steals and a block. The Lady Wildcats had assists on 20 of their 26 made shots. Alexis Foster led the team with five. Wiley outshot the Lady Steers 43.3 to 33.3 percent and 44.8 to 14.3 percent from 3-point range.
 
Defensively, the Lady Wildcats forced 16 turnovers with 11 coming off steals. Erin Love led the team with three. Wiley outrebounded Texas College 58-32. Its 24 offensive rebounds led to 25 second-chance points.
 
The Lady Wildcats continue their season-opening homestand at 5 p.m. Wednesday against No. 22 Louisiana State University in Shreveport. The Pilots went 27-4 last season, winning the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament and advancing to the NAIA National Championship Tournament. They defeated Texas Wesleyan University 68-47 on Sunday.
