Women's Basketball hosts Paul Quinn with HBCUAC West lead at Stake
Wiley University women's basketball returns to Alumni Gymnasium to take on Paul Quinn College at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in a game that will be decisive to the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference West Division race.

The Lady Wildcats (10-4, 5-2 HBCUAC) play on their home court for the first time in 2026. They are looking to bounce back from their second loss in three games after falling 63-58 at Tougaloo College on Saturday. Wiley shot 27.6 percent, marking the second time in three games its shot under 30 percent. It is a game behind Paul Quinn for first in the HBCUAC West and looks to even the season series. Jessica Nerestant recorded her third double-double of the season on Saturday with 10 points and 11 rebounds. In the January 8 game in Dallas, Moriah Burley led the Lady Wildcats with 14 points, hitting four 3-pointers.
Along with an improved shooting performance, Wiley need a stronger effort on the boards as they were outrebounded 56-49 in the 73-64 loss at Paul Quinn. It won the turnover battle 26-19.
The Lady Tigers (12-4, 7-1 HBCUAC) split their games last week with a 75-65 loss against Dillard University and an 84-75 victory over Southern University at New Orleans. Canai McPherson averaged 18 points per game. She led Paul Quinn with 15 points in the January 8 meeting.
Wiley seeks its first victory over Paul Quinn since 2017. It has lost the last nine against the Lady Tigers, after winning nine straight from January 7, 2006, until January 27, 2017.
