SHREVEPORT, La. - Playing in their first postseason match in eight years, the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference No. 2 seed Wiley University women's soccer scored in the third minute and didn't look back, as it advanced to the 2025 HBCUAC Soccer Championship semifinals with a 31-0 victory over East No. 3 seed Tougaloo College Tuesday at Lee Hedges Stadium.
The Lady Wildcats (9-5-0) nearly doubled their program record for goals scored in a single game. Their previous high was 18, also against Tougaloo College last season. Wiley advances to the semifinals for the third time in program history. It will face East No. 1 seed Talladega College at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Twelve players scored for the Lady Wildcats, led by Feryi Sanchez, who scored a program-record 11 goals and provided two assists. Yamilett Umana followed with five goals. Deyanara Hernandez contributed four goals and six assists. Nadia Hernandez scored two goals and tallied six assists.
Umana's first goal started the scoring. Sanchez scored her first two goals to extend the lead to three. The Lady Wildcats broke the game open with seven goals in a 10-minute stretch in the first half. They outshot Tougaloo 61-1.
The Lady WIldcats seek to make their first championship match appearance in program history.
