AUSTIN, Texas - Wiley University baseball could not hold on to leads in 10-9 and 7-5 losses, but took the finale 13-7 against Huston-Tillotson University on Thursday and Friday at Downs Field.
The Wildcats (9-11, 3-3 HBCUAC) move to 3-7 on the road. They lost their second consecutive conference road series dating back to the end of last season.
THURSDAY
GAME 1
GAME 1
Wiley struck first. Amir Mason singled, stole second and scored on a base hit by Ivan Del Villar. He scored on a steal of third and a throwing error by the catcher. Huston-Tillotson responded with four runs on five hits.
The Wildcats trailed 6-3 in the ninth inning. Del Villar led off with a double and scored on a double by John Barajas. Ajari Camp hit a single through the right side to bring home Barajas. Javarey Valentine, who courtesy ran for catcher Daniel de los Rios tied the game, scoring on a wild pitch. A bases-loaded hit by a pitch and two wild pitches brought home three runs.
Huston-Tillotson's first four batters reached. Reyli Escobedo got a strikeout, but the next batter tied the game with a two-RBI double. An intentional walk and a walk brought home the winning run.
Del Villar went 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI. Kaleb Gilner got a hit and scored two runs. Barajas got a hit and scored a run.

The Wildcats took a 4-1 lead. Marshel Herman hit his second home run, which drove in Trey Clark, who walked in the second inning. In the fifth, Kaleb Gilner hit a double with two outs. Eddie Garza hit an RBI single and took second on the throw. Mason drove in Garza with a double to right.
Wiley gave up six runs on seven hits. A three-run home run tied the game at four. Two singles and two doubles brought home three runs. The Wildcats tried to rally in the seventh. Jose Villalobos walked with one out and advanced on a groundball. Eddie Garza drove him in with a single. A flyout ended the game.
GAME 3
The Wildcats struck for six runs on three hits and an error in the first inning. Clark hit a sacrifice fly. Del Villar hit a double to right-center field. Devin Gladney hit an RBI single. Tyson Minter hit a three-run home run for his first of the season.
The Rams (14-12, 3-3 HBCUAC) cut the lead to two with a two-run home run and RBI single in the second, a two-RBI double and a throwing error in the third and on a single and an error in the fifth.
Wiley put the game away in the seventh with six runs. Del Villar hit a two-RBI triple. Villalobos hit an RBI single and scored on a wild pitch. Del Villar went 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBI. Gladney went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.
Estevan Baca earned his second win and threw his second complete game. He struck out four batters.
The Wildcats will visit Louisiana Christian University for a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday. They will resume HBCUAC play at Coker Field against Philander Smith University on March 14 and 15.
